The Wildwood Florist

Flowers for all occasions

Located on Staithe Street in the heart of Wells, The Wildwood Florist opened it’s doors in April 2024 and offers a relaxed, country style of floristry. Owner Lea makes beautiful handmade bouquets using seasonal flowers, locally grown where possible, and flowers & foliage from her own cutting garden, providing personal arrangements for weddings and other events.

The Wildwood Florist offers a natural, just-picked style of floristry using flowers supplied by local growers and home grown seasonal flowers.

Lea, flower farmer and florist, creates wedding flowers, funeral tributes, bouquets & posies, festive wreaths, holiday let vases, dinner party flowers and more.

The Wildwood Florist can provide eco-friendly flowers for events using techniques which do not use floral foam, wires or plastics.

The florist also offers weekly flower deliveries (Friday Flowers), and table flowers for local restaurants, hotels, B&B’s etc.

The shop on Staithe Street sells fresh cut flowers, some floral sundries, gifts, house plants, outside garden plants, gift vouchers and also has some vintage items instore.

Lea will be offering workshops during the year.

Lea Taylor is a long-standing member of the Wells-next-the-Sea community, with family ties going back several generations. Both her parents were born in Wells, and her great uncle was Frank Taylor (Doodles). Her paternal grandfather, Sam Taylor, supervised the pedal boats on Abraham’s Bosom at Pinewoods and managed the car park at Holkham Hall for many years.

Before opening The Wildwood Florist, she was known to many as the local postie, delivering in and around Wells for several years.

Flowers have always been a passion of hers – arranging them, growing them and learning about them. In 2015, after witnessing a serious incident while working as a Coastguard Rescue Officer at HM Coastguard in Wells, she decided it was time to stop putting things off and pursue formal training.

She enrolled at Easton College, where she gained her Level 2 and Level 3 Floristry qualifications. She credits her excellent tutor and fellow students for making the experience especially rewarding.

Although she started out working as a florist from home, her dream had always been to open a traditional flower shop. That opportunity came when the former Wells Flower Co. premises became available, somewhere she had worked during her college training. At the time, she often imagined how she would run it if given the chance.

Now that The Wildwood Florist is open, Lea’s dream has finally come true and she looks forward to welcoming you all. The shop offers a range of fresh flowers and plants, including her own home grown seasonal British flowers. For her, it’s the chance to do what she loves, in the town she calls home.
