Hut-next-the-Sea is a beautiful shepherd’s hut nestled in a corner of the Blue Skies Campsite at Wells. It has a cosy wood burner, deliciously comfy bed, en suite shower & WC and kitchenette, all with vintage -style touches. The hut is an ideal romantic getaway and has its own drive, private parking and a pretty garden.
The rural location gives you a wonderful sense of space. Birds and butterflies thrive in the wooded dell, including the resident cuckoo.
Sitting at the table inside, you’ll see the trees silhouetted against the sunset as you eat an evening meal. In the sunny garden you can spread the day’s newspapers out on the picnic bench, topping up coffee from the cafetiere. Deck chairs are provided for basking in the sun.
From the plants in the garden to the stylish crockery, everything is designed to create a pretty environment for you to relax in, with nearly every comfort you'd expect in a normal self-catering property (NB limited cooking facilities, no central heating).
Sleeping: The bed is deliciously comfortable and inviting. Pocket sprung double bed with Cath Kidston duvet cover and hotel-quality sheets and pillows. Storage for your clothes include baskets under the bed, a bespoke ottoman, lots of hooks and hangers.
Washing: En suite shower, washbasin, wc and heated towel rail. Liquid soap, shower gel and moisturiser provided, as are fluffy towels. Shelves and storage for your additional toiletries and shaving mirror. The shower and taps have instant hot water.
Cooking: Kitchenette with butler sink, gas camping stove (keep the window open if you use it inside) and full size fridge with ice box. Pans and cooking utensils provided. Boil the kettle on the gas camping stove or wood burner. Tea, coffee, sugar provided, as is biscuits, flowers and milk.
Dining: Table and chairs for two.
Entertainment: Digital radio and Bluetooth sound bar. There is currently no wifi or TV, but the 4G reception is excellent for online access and streaming videos.
Heating: The wood burner is seriously effective and out of season will keep you more than toasty. Enough wood and kindling is provided to get you started. The hut is also insulated and double-glazed.
Garden: The pretty garden has a picnic bench, garden bench, deck chairs, and a charcoal Weber BBQ.
Parking: Designated parking for one car
Please Note: There is no mains electricity. The fridge and lights are powered by solar panel and leisure battery. A 12v charger with various adapters is provided so you can power your mobile etc. There is mains water, but when the campsite is full, the water pressure can run low during busy periods, affecting the consistency of the hot water supply.
Additional wood, gas canisters and charcoal are for sale on-site or in nearby shops.
Hut-next-the-Sea has its own private access on the Blue Skies Campsite. Parking is at the end of its own drive and the hut is a couple of steps off the parking space, through a gap in the hedge of its own garden.
You can walk into town where you'll find plenty of great restaurants, fish & chips, cafes and shops.
