Walnut Cottage is a beautiful and unique house, dating back to 1734, close to the centre of Wells. It is 50 metres from the tree lined town green “The Buttlands” that offers free parking, and a short stroll to the wide range of local shops in “Staithe Street”. It is a 5 minute walk from the quaint harbour and a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to the glorious sandy beach.
On road parking is available for free by the cottage and secure off road parking is available during peak times.
The primary bedroom has a King sized four poster bed and the bathroom has a central fabulous roll top bath and large walk in shower. The second bedroom, which is on the second floor, has two single beds. The cottage is in a very quiet location and has very comfortable beds with luxurious bed linen to help ensure a really tranquil sleep.
The cottage’s exposed oak beams and wood burning stove show its heritage alongside the fast broadband, smart TVs and Netflix. The traditional cottage stairs are very safe but are Norfolk winders and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The totally private walled garden is well stocked and very pretty with nesting birds every year. It is a peaceful place to sit and relax.
Walnut Cottage has been an extremely popular holiday cottage for over 25 years with some guests returning more than 30 times. Those who came as children are now returning with their next generation.

The cottage is a delightful Georgian double fronted house with an enclosed rear garden, which is very private. Rear access is gained from the adjacent Green Dragon Lane. The cottage was built in 1720 and renovations were completed in May 1998, to provide a very comfortable and attractive home.
The cottage comprises a fabulous sitting room, a really cosy and comfortable room with chairs and sofa, cast iron wood burning stove, super fast fibre broadband, Smart TV with Netflix and DVD player, music centre and iPod docking station. There’s a good selection of DVDs, books, games and magazines. Logs and coal, available locally, are supplied for three days of fires.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, a traditional pine kitchen with pamment floor. It is well equipped with gas cooker, fridge, washing machine and microwave. There is also a large dining table with chairs and a wonderful old door with enormous key leading to a pretty and sheltered rear courtyard garden.
There is an enclosed and carpeted spiral staircase leading to the landing area (please note the stairs are steep), with chairs, original Georgian floorboards and built in pine wardrobe.
The large family bathroom is quite simply a stunning room with an amazing original mural, a free standing Victorian style roll top bath, a very spacious frameless walk in shower, WC with high level cistern and basin. The perfect bath to enjoy a bottle of champagne and candles.
The main bedroom is a romantic and calm room with a pine four poster king sized bed surrounded with single white fairy lights. A Tempur mattress promotes a fabulous nights sleep. There’s an iPod docking station, wardrobe, mirrors, hairdryer, bedside tables and lamps.
On the second floor is a twin-bedded room with flat screen LCD TV. This room has a lovely view over gardens to the Buttlands, the village green, which in the 18th century housed the town bandstand. It’s a very pleasant area surrounded by mature trees and this is the most suitable place to park being just moments from the rear of the house.
Outside there is a secluded and sheltered, very pretty courtyard garden to the rear of the cottage with seating and outside lighting, perfect for al fresco dining. The garden is walled and has a tall gate with bolt, it is totally private.

The cottage is a 5 minutes walk from the quay and a few minutes to all the local shops. Almost anything can be purchased locally and the local supermarket will still deliver your shopping free of charge. There are miles of prime sandy beaches, excellent woodland and bird-watching areas within easy access by foot or car.

A bit of paradise in the centre of Wells. Fantastic location. What a beautiful cottage, it had everything you would want home from home. Everything was top quality. Angela was wonderful, we actually got to meet her & nothing was any trouble. I would say she went above and beyond. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage! the location is great, it’s walking distance to the local pubs, shops and restaurants. the sea front is not too far away either. the beach is within walking distance and its flat ground, but they also run a bus too and from which is £2 each, definitely worth it on the way back after walking the length of the coast. Lovely little town and plenty of touristy ships alongside small businesses. highly recommended!

If you don’t go for the cottage, you should at least go for Angela’s amazing hospitality, it was honestly like staying over the home of a loved one! The place was absolutely stunning with lots of nice little quirks in a beautiful location, just what we needed. It felt so relaxing and had everything we needed, we felt at home right away. Could not recommend more, Book, book, book!
Wonderful stay for our family including 2 children plus baby. Beautiful house with amazing bathroom and lovely little touches like comfortable bedding, good quality towels and blankets. Wells itself was also great with lots of things to do and lovely food! We’ll definitely return soon!
Generously hosted and Angela is quick to communicate. Plenty of pubs in the village and lots to do in the area, including possibly the best cafe in England, the Lookout at Holkham nature reserve. Highly recommended!
A brilliant cottage – cosy and incredibly quiet. Angela was a wonderful host – superb communication throughout and excellent local recommendations. Wells is beautiful and we found lots to do on the north Norfolk coast
